Women’s role in IR4.0: Expectations, Challenges and Opportunities
The role of women in contributing to the nation’s development is expected to increase and the expansion of women’s role in the economy is in line with developments in Industrial Revolution 4.0. Do we have the adequate policies in Malaysia to ensure this development runs on track? What roles do government agencies and the private sector play in ensuring a fair workplace and business climate for women? What are the competitive advantages for women in helming leadership roles today?
11.30am - 1.00pm
National Outlook Panel
Women Entrepreneurs in Key Industries
Women entrepreneurs are crucial as they tend to be more people-oriented and hence understand the intricacies of the market. As such in Africa and Asia at least, about 75% of women are in consumer-oriented sectors. These constitute industries in which women play a pivotal role as leading entrepreneurs, heads of corporations and senior management. What are these industries? What can be done to expand the sphere of influence of women in other industries? What can be the role of government agencies in allowing access for women in new industries?
1.00pm - 2.30pm
Networking Lunch

Technology Panel
Finance in An Age of Disruption
The concept of blockchain and the myriad of cryptocurrencies that operate on it such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin to name a few, has caught the world by storm in the past few years. It is called the 2nd phase of the internet, which enables people to exchange items of value such as money, directly without intermediaries, as how we send emails to each other across the globe. This has threatened the banking institutions around the world as they make their fortunes from international transfers. But is this just another bubble about to burst? Or is it a technology that is here to stay? How will this revolutionise international payment transfers, and will it impact global trade? Will banks be out of business?
2.30pm - 3.30pm
Education Panel
Is Our Education System Ready for Industrial Revolution 4.0?
As we move deeper into Industrial Revolution 4.0, traditional ways of thinking become obsolete, traditional industries and business frameworks are on the verge of being wiped out, and thousands of jobs will be lost. Is our education system ready for these disruptive changes? Can the culture of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) in Malaysia prepare our children for Industrial Revolution 4.0? The digital revolution comes with the democratisation of work, which is free from gender bias. But is that the case in Malaysia? Will this new era provide more opportunities to women?
