BACKGROUND OF EVENT

National Library of Malaysia (PNM) in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia (KKMM) is organising u-Pustaka Bookworm Run 2019 in conjunction with the 8th u-Pustaka anniversary. u-Pustaka, is a one-stop information gateway to millions of library collection from all over the country. Readers can borrow books online and have it delivered to their homes when they sign up for a free membership at u-Pustaka portal. Apart from borrowing books, u-Pustaka members can also get access to various kinds of e-resources provided in the portal.

The purpose of the run is to support reading activities that require a healthy lifestyle and an intelligent mind as well as providing exposure and awareness to the public on the u-Pustaka services.

RULES & REGULATIONS

• The organiser reserves the right to use any photography (including those of participants) recording during the event, for any legitimate purpose including commercial advertisement and distribution to sponsors.
• Participants are strongly advised to go for medical examination and/or to consult a medical practitioner prior to registration and before the actual event day. It is the responsibility of every participant to ensure that they are fit and healthy to participate in the run without major morbidity.
• Our medical team has the sole and final authority to remove any participant from the event if the participant is deemed to be physically unfit to continue the event resulting in serious injury.
• Our medical team will transport via appropriate vehicle the injured or sick participant to the nearest hospital in the case of emergency
• Participant taking part in this event at their own risk. The organiser shall not be liable for any injuries, loss and/or damages to property, whether personal or otherwise arising from training for or during the event.
• All participant below 16 years old, need to have an accompanying adult during the running event.
• Registration for any child below 12 shall be entered by their legal parent or guardian and who must submit relevant indemnity declaration forms upon registration. Failing which, the Organiser reserves the right to deny entry to any participant.
• It is recommended that all participants have personal accident and/or health insurance.
• Organiser provides insurance coverage for all runners from 0 to 75 years old.
• The organiser reserves the right to delay the start of the run in the event of heavy rain or extreme weather condition/ natural disaster. If the unfavourable weather condition persist after the delay, the organiser reserves the right to cancel the run without providing refunds. The organiser shall not be held responsible for any claims whatsoever in any form made by any individual or parties concerned.
• Cut-off time for 5 km Fun Run is 2 hours and 10 km Competitive Run is 3 hours. Anyone who fails to complete the race beyond the cut-off time will be advised to be transported by “sweeper” vehicles to the finishing point.
• Goodies bags and medals will still be given out to all participants.
• The Organizer reserves the right to amend the event race routes as the organizer deems fit for the safety of the participants and/or to prevent any potential hazards in the running of the event, at any time without prior notice to the participants.
• Participants will be automatically registered as u-Pustaka members upon registration.  Registration and membership is free for life. 
• Participants are encouraged to bring along a book to our Book Donation Program during the kit collection day.
