ABOUT
Ensemble Virama is back! For this long anticipated reunion, the chamber music collective will play Swedish folk tunes, arranged by our very own Bernice Ooi, as well as exciting rarities: selections from Darius Milhaud’s entertaining and animesque Suite, and the Malaysian premiere of Franz Liszt’s Elégie, performed here in its original version. The concert culminates in Johannes Brahms's ever popular Piano Quartet No. 1 in G minor, in a version inspired by Arnold Schoenberg's 1937 orchestration.
Sabahan pianist Tham Horng Kent, who is a Senior Lecturer at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, will make his debut with Ensemble Virama with Deciso's brand new Shigeru Kawai. Special thanks to Deciso, Ensemble Virama's home base, for making this possible.
Apart from our concert on the 20th, a ticketed open rehearsal will also happen on the evening of the 19th, where we delve into the intricacies and educational elements of the programme. We look forward to seeing you at Deciso!
