Presented by Petaling Street Cultural Community Centre (PSCC) and Yi Meng Lion Art, the public is invited to catch two specially curated LION DANCE PERFORMANCES, where not only can they catch one of Malaysia’s best lion dance troupes but also learn more about the rich traditions and nuances of the lion dance via a sharing session and Q&A after each performance.
About Yi Meng Lion Art
Founded in 2009, Hong Wei Dragon & Lion Dance Team have taken part in numerous lion and dragon dance competitions, building up a reputation as one of the best lion dance troupes. Kun Seng Keng Lion & Dragon Dance Association, formed in November 2012 to promote lion and dragon dance culture, is another key organisation in the local scene.
On 1st January 2022, the two troupes officially merged under the new name Yi Ming Lion Art (YMLA). Since then, both teams have become bigger and continue to produce amazing shows, complementing each other to bring dragon and lion dance cultural activities to a higher level.
YMLA’s strategy is to create a new cultural impression on the art of the lion and dragon dance to present a more positive, healthy and professional image to the masses and become one of the best teams in the country. The troupe is inclusive without ethnic bias, nor schools, they proactively curate performances, classes, public relation and cultural activities in a professional manner in order to spread awareness and appreciation for this rich cultural tradition.
