Do you find yourself struggling with creating the perfect accompaniment or feeling stuck in your current way of playing jazz piano? Many pianists neglect the equally important aspect of accompaniment in favor of melodic improvisation. Even with a good knowledge of harmony, it can be challenging to map out a successful piano arrangement.

This workshop at Qactus Space, led by Leonard Yeap, aims to address these issues by discussing piano playing from the perspective of an arranger. The knowledge gained from arranging will complement the pianist's existing skills and contribute to a well-rounded accompaniment. Additionally, the techniques learned in arranging can help expand one's harmonic language.

As an experienced arranger, pianist, composer, conductor, educator, and music director, Leonard Yeap brings 25 years of expertise to the workshop. He has worked with numerous organizations and artists in Malaysia and abroad, including the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra and Dato' Sri Siti Nurhaliza. By taking a new perspective on piano playing, this workshop will help pianists create more successful and compelling performances.
