Article 1 - Definition of Ocean Race 

In Ocean race, the competitor races over a designated long-distance course on surfski, starting at the beach and into the sea not subject to prescribed standards. He/she must take the sea as he finds it and be prepared, if it is necessary, to carry his/her boat around an impassable obstacle or between two waterways or sea waves. The main course is sea or a small portion of the beach for start-up and finish line.

**Accepted International paddlers are furnished with accommodation, airport transfer, travels to venues and F&B by the HOC. Nevertheless, the international paddlers are strongly anchorage to mobilise/fly at own expenses and all participants will be provided with similar surfski namely Nelo 510. (Details of plastic surfski is per appendix 1). HOC will assist in the local logistic/airport transfer and venue transfer. (B)       Age Categories 

                       Age above 18 years - the year of their 18th birthday and above.

(C)        Specifications 

Nelo 510 surfski will be used for the entire race. Paddlers are encouraged to bring their own paddle. All surfski are equipped with rudder and bailer. It is a prerequisite for all paddlers to bring their own safety jacket preferably above 50 newton jackets. 

For Malaysian Open TK2 and Sit on Top (SOT), all boat will be provided by HOC. Nevertheless, Malaysian are to make their own arrangement for lodging.

(D)       Construction 

For Surfski, TK2 and SOT, any kinds of building materials are permitted. Spray covers and automatic bailer; will be allowed. 

(E)        Measuring 

1. No length limit of the Surfski. Stem-bands or other protection of stem and stern, if any, are to be included. 

2. All boats for international competition, prior to racing, will be arranged at the water edge or defined location and times as set forth by the host organization committee.

Participant Waiver

By participating I/we accept all risks necessarily resulting from my participation, which would result in loss of life or permanent injury. Accordingly, I will not hold liable all people associated with the conduct of events and will release them against all matters arising from my participation in event. For clarification, the people released include event organizers, promoters, sponsors, managers, officers, employees, agents, contractors and volunteers including event medical and paramedical personnel and every personnel invited and asked to be involved in the event by the organizers. This release and indemnity continue forever and binds my heirs, executors, personal representatives, and assignees.

I/we understand that I park my vehicle at my own risk and assume organizers to not hold any responsibility for loss of or damage to my vehicle.

I/we acknowledge that the event involves real risk of serious injuries, or risk of death, from various causes including overexertion, equipment failure, dehydration, accidents with other competitors, spectators, and road users, the course and weather conditions, just to name a few.

I/we understand that I should not participate in the event unless I have prepared appropriately and my physical condition has been verified by a medical practitioner.

I/we understand that the information that I have provided herein will be included in the STAGEMAKER SDN BHD database. I also understand that information of a biological nature including my name, date of birth, home state, results, career highlights and interests may be released to the media in response to general requests.

I/we agree to abide by all the Rules of organizers which relate, in part, to safe and fair sporting practices.

I/we grant organizers unconditional rights to use at their discretion photographic pictures and personal information in any form of media, art, advertising, trade, visual documentary, promotional material, merchandise or film coverage of any kind without compensation to me. I also waive the right to inspect and/or approve the finished product or the copy that may be used in connection therewith, or the use to which it may be applied.

I/we have permission from my family and related sport associations to compete in this event.
