About The Event

Terry Fox Runs are being organised across the globe with the goal of raising funds for cancer research. For millions of people around the world, Terry Fox is the face of hope for research in finding cures for cancer. This will be the first Terry Fox Run in Melaka after more than 20 years it was held only in Klang Valley. Just like Terry's goal to run across Canada, we would like to create awareness on cancer research across Malaysia and hope to grow to more cities in the future. Terry Fox Run Melacca welcomes all, regardless of age, athletic ability or socio-economic standing. The event is a non-competitive, family-oriented fun run. You can run, jog, walk, skate or even ride on someone’s shoulders: the race is against cancer. All donations will go towards empowering cancer research.

FAQ:

1. What is the distance of the run/walk?
   It will be a 3.5 km fun run/walk.
2. What do I get for registration with RM40 donation?
   Registration package of RM40 donation will entitle the following:
   • 1 TFR Melaka t-shirt (designed by Ryan Reynolds)
   • Light Refreshments by Sponsors (on the event day)
3. How can I volunteer for TFR Melaka 2024?
   We always welcome volunteers. If you would like to volunteer for TFR Melaka 2024, you may write to [email protected] and indicate how you would like to contribute to the event.

4. What is the age limit for TFR Melaka 2024?
   There is no age limit, everyone can join the fun run. However, any individuals below 18 years old should have an adult who is above 18 years old as guardian.
5. Can I bring a stroller, scooter, bicycle etc.?
   Yes, we welcome all types of wheelers including wheelchairs, as long it is not electrically operated.
6. Can I bring kids without registering them?
   We welcome everyone to join. However, individuals who join the event without registering are solely at their own risk and the organizer will not be responsible or held liable for any injury or accidents. We encourage all individuals to register, and there are t-shirt sizes for kids.
7. Can I bring my pet?
   No, all kinds of pets are not allowed for safety reason.
8. I could not collect the race pack on the race pack collection day. May I collect it on the event day before the run?
   We encourage participants to collect on 17th February 2024. We will announce IF collection is available on event day.
9. Can I send a representative to collect the race pack on behalf?
   Yes, you can send a representative to collect your race pack. No authorization letter is needed. Your representative may present the printed/screenshot proof of registration, together with IC number.
10. Can the race pack be courier to me?
    There is NO courier service available.
11. I am outside of Melaka and donating for cancer research and would like to get the collectible TFR t-shirt. How can I collect it?
    You may collect the t-shirt 1 week after the event finished, at Cancer Research Malaysia office. In a case where you are out of Melaka and Klang Valley, kindly write [email protected] 
12. I wrongly measure/choose the size of t-shirt, can I change it?
    Strictly, there is NO t-shirt size changing allowed.
13. Is there medal for winners and finishers?
    Terry Fox Run is non-competitive fun run, our goal is to raise fun for cancer research. There will be no medal but only the Terry Fox Run collectibles t-shirt.
14. Can I register and donate on the day of the run itself?
    Yes, you can register and donate on the day of the run, but we encourage participants to register early to ensure we have sufficient giveaway gifts especially since T-shirts have limited quantities for all sizes. For registrants who donate on the actual race day, we cannot guarantee all the giveaways will be available on the day of the actual run as stocks are limited.
15. What is the flag-off time?
    The flag-off time will be announced upon approval by the authorities.
16. Who is the main organizer for this charity run?
    Cancer Research Malaysia is the main organizer and beneficiary for the donations collected through Terry Fox Run Melaka 2024.
17. As this is a charity run based on donation, can I use the receipt as tax deductible?
    You may request for tax exemption receipt (TER) from Cancer Research Malaysia for any donation of RM50 and above. This is applicable for both individual and corporate donation. Tax exemption receipt will be email to you within 60 days(max) from your registration date.

18. I have a business and would like to open a booth during Terry Fox Run Melaka 2024 for promotional/selling purposed. How much is the rental per spot?
    There is NO rental spot for businesses promotion/sale activity during the event. This event is purely a charity event to raise fund and awareness on cancer research, no commercial activities are allowed. This rule is stated by Terry Fox Foundation, Canada and applies to all group and countries. However, we welcome any sponsorship for the event

The ‘Terry Fox Run Melaka 2024’ is open to all Malaysians, PR and expatriates with working permit and foreigners.

Participants below the age of 18 are required to obtain the consent of their parents/guardians before signing up for this event.

Participants who completed the online registration form agreed to abide by the rules and regulations of the event.

The organizer reserve the right to amend the rules & regulations at any time, at its sole discretion, without any prior notice.

Upon confirmation of participant, change of t-shirts size or other detail will not be entertained.

All donations are to be collected in ringgit Malaysia (RM).

Once participants registration has been duly processed, there will be NO refund for participants who do not eventually take part in the event for whatever reason.

All merchandises' color, design and material are subject to change without notice.

Any entitlement or any other merchandise and goodies not collected at the stipulated time shall be forfeited and any request thereafter will not be entertained. No refund will be entertained.

The participants have to abide all the rules and route specified by the organizer and ends at the venue as stated.

The organizer reserves the right to change or to cancel the event at any time without prior notice, in which case the organizer will make effort to inform prior to the date. If the event has to be cancelled, there shall be NO refund of donations and the organizer shall not be liable for any other loss or inconvenience caused. Any updates on the event including any changes to the rules & regulations will be posted on the Event's Official Facebook page.

There will be no refund of donations, if the event is cancelled for reason of force majeure i.e. due to occurrence of incidents that are beyond the control of the organizer (including but not limited to haze, storm, rain, inclement weather, wind, act of God, terrorism or other conditions) and which in the organizer’s opinion, renders it impossible or unsafe to hold the event.

The organizer reserves the right to use any photographs (including those of participants), motion pictures, recording or any other record of this event for legitimate purpose, including commercial advertising.

Safety and Health Measures:
The participant should be free from any medical, physical, mental disability and chronic/infectious disease which would deem it unsafe to participate in the event.

The organiser will take all reasonable precautions to ensure the safety of participants. However, every participant is responsible for his/her involvement in the event. The organiser will not be liable for any injuries, mishaps, sickness, death or loss/damage to personal property that may occur during the walk.
