Event Description

Oral Cancer Research & Coordinating Centre (OCRCC), together with 20 partner agencies consisting of Ministry of Health, Professional Associations, NGOs, Public and Private Universities has taken the initiative to organise the Mouth Cancer Awareness Month (MCAM) 2025 Run/ Walk/Ride as part of the event for Mouth Cancer Awareness Month (MCAM).

MCAM is held to increase awareness among the Malaysian public on mouth cancer, its risk factors, signs and symptoms as well as early detection and preventive measures. The theme for this year’s awareness month is #Be Aware Be Early Your Mouth Matters.
 This year's launching will be held for the first time at Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur. Participant can choose the 3km, 5km or 7km route during the physical event.

The MCAM 2025 Virtual Walk/ Run/ Ride challenge will cover a distance of 10km which must be done in 1 week (7 days). This event is open to all regardless of age. Feel free to run or walk at your own pace. 

So what are you waiting for… Let us all join our hands and do our part in supporting these mouth cancer patients, survivors and their families in their journey to fight and beat mouth cancer in whatever way that we can.

The Organiser reserves the right to refuse participants without the required documents from collecting their Race Pack.

  2. The event is open to all regardless of gender and age.
  3. The purpose of this event is to raise awareness among the Malaysian public on mouth cancer, its risk factors, signs and symptoms as well as early detection and preventive measures. The theme for the awareness month is ‘#BeAwareBeEarlyYourMouthMatters'.
  4. For the physical event, participants can choose a 3KM, 5KM or 7KM route challenge surrounding the Dataran Merdeka.
  5. For the virtual event, participants can either run the 10km within a day, or run/walk for a few km a day, accumulate the evidences to a total of 10km, which MUST be done within 7 days.
  6. All participants are to ensure that all information submitted for the purpose of registration are complete and accurate.
  7. Your participation is only CONFIRMED when payment of the registration fees is successfully made to Ticket2U.com.my.
  8. By confirmation of payment, the participants agree to abide by the rules and regulations set forth by the Organiser. 
  9. All entries are NOT TRANSFERABLE, REFUNDABLE NOR DEFERRABLE.
  10. Upon confirmation of participation, changes to the category or other details will not be entertained.
  11. The Organiser reserves the right to limit, accept or reject any entries without prior notice and reasons.
  12. The Organiser reserves the right to close entries before deadline without any notice or when the quota of the run/walk is full.
  13. Participants are encouraged to post photos onto their Instagram or Facebook accounts along with the following hashtags: #BeAwareBeEarlyYourMouthMatters; #mcaw2025. Tag us to tell us about your virtual run experience.
  14. Entitlement (t-shirt/ towel/ bag) will be shipped to participants within 4 weeks after the campaign ended via courier by the Organiser.
  15. The Organiser will try to ship the entitlements to participants who made purchases before 2 February 2025. For purchases made after 2 February 2025, participants will only get the entitlements after the physical event date (16 February 2025). 
  16. Entitlements will be shipped directly to the registered mailing address provided by the participant during registration. Please provide an accurate mailing address. Any additional cost incurred due to the return of parcel from the courier company or failure to deliver are to be borne by the participant. 
  17. In the case where participants would like to make an address change once registration has been confirmed, additional charges will be incurred.
  18. The T-shirt size is strictly based on the size selected by the participant during registration, any request for size change will not be entertained.
  19. If there is a return of parcel during the shipment of entitlement due to whatever reason, upon request, the Organiser will arrange to resend the parcel but the delivery charges will be borne by participants.
  20. Any notice sent to the email address registered with the Organiser shall be deemed as received by the participant.
  21. If the participant provides any information that is untrue, inaccurate, outdated or incomplete, or if the Organiser has grounds to believe that such information is untrue, inaccurate, outdated or incomplete, the Organiser may at any time suspend, revoke, cancel or terminate the participant's registration for the event or entitlement and fees will not be refunded.
  22. The Organiser will not entertain nor be in any way responsible for any disputes arising from incomplete or inaccurate entry details in the registration form.
  23. Submission of the evidence/result of the walk/run/ ride must be done before 1 March 2025. 
  24. The registered parties affirm that they have read, understood and fully agreed to the terms and waiver, and they will give up substantial rights, including the rights to sue and to release all liability to the greatest extend allowed by law.

Oral Cancer Research & Coordinating Centre

The Oral Cancer Research & Coordinating Centre (OCRCC) was established to carry out and coordinate oral cancer research in Malaysia. Since its establishment, OCRCC has set-up a biobank known as the Malaysian Oral Cancer Database & Tissue Bank System (MOCDTBS) where data and biological specimens were collected, processed and stored. OCRCC operates with the vision of providing a framework for oral cancer research via the collection and sharing of data and specimen such that there is successful translation of basic research into clinical practice. Apart from research activities, OCRCC is also committed to increase knowledge and awareness on oral cancer by organizing various activities such as training sessions, seminars and awareness programmes. Major yearly activities conducted by the centre is a training workshop where oral health care specialists were trained to recognise a multitude of oral diseases so that they can echo-train other oral health care specialist and the ‘Mouth Cancer Awareness Week’ campaign where a walkathon is held to inaugurate the week and is followed by various activities such as exposure on mass media and mouth screening with the aim of increasing public awareness towards the disease.
