The Malaysian palm oil industry through MPOGCF has launched the Orangutan Diplomacy program (OuDip) as an initiative to conserve the Bornean orangutans in Sabah and Sarawak. The pilot project, implemented in collaboration with Sawit Kinabalu, focuses on the Sungai Pin Conservation Area in Kinabatangan, Sabah, which serves as a habitat for 55 Bornean orangutans.

The OuDip initiative offers a unique platform for sponsorship, allowing plantation companies, corporate entities, NGOs, and individuals to adopt one or more orangutans through donation.

Further inquiries regarding the program can be directed to the OuDip Secretariat at 03-79315544 (Daniel/Ariff).

Malaysia Palm Oil Green Conservation Foundation (MPOGCF)

The palm oil industry adopts and implements sustainable and good agricultural practices, yet it has been accused of unsustainable practices including the destruction of rainforests and wildlife habitat, particularly the orangutan. The Malaysian palm oil industry has not been spared by these accusations, despite numerous efforts to provide explanation and correct information. The idea for the establishment of the Malaysian Palm Oil Green Conservation Foundation (MPOGCF) was therefore mooted by the Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities in 2021 in order to support conservation initiatives related to the palm oil industry and to proof the commitment of the industry towards conserving our environment.
