*Borneo DeathMarch 250k Ultra Marathon 2016 will be organized at Sabah on 25th April - 01 May, 2016.

The Borneo Deathmarch 250k Ultra Marathon 2016 is 6 stage, 7 day extreme, outdoor ultra trail marathon which takes runners over the original Borneo Death March route of 1945 over 7 days in Sabah, Malaysia, Borneo.

According to race director Avtar Singh, "expect spartan conditions...hot and humid conditions with basic facilities along the route with temperatures on bad day's exceeding 37 degrees Celsius along this historic route and a mix of gravel village roads, asphalt road sections and jungle sections offering a mix of environments in some of the most sensitive areas in Borneo that are protected due to the presence of elephants, orang utan and wild life on some sections of the course"

"This event is really an event that a determined individual can finish over the course of the 7 days with a rest included to allow runners an opportunity to recover from the first 3 day's of the event which cover 160 odd kilometers."

"As this is the 71st anniversary since the end of World War Two and the brutal, but tragic deathmarch's from Sandakan Prisoner of War Camp to the old Japanese airfield in Ranau, at the foot of Mount Kinabalu, some 250 kilometers away. We felt it necessary to give individuals the unique opportunity with our partners TYK Adventure Borneo to take on the challenges of the Deathmarch route of 1945 and to give you the opportunity to re-trace the route. This is a once in a life time opportunity to discover a tragic part of the history of North Borneo."

Runners suffering the following medical conditions ARE NOT ALLOWED to participate in this event: 1) Congenital or rheumatic heart conditions 2) Hypertension 3) Myocarditis and other heart conditions 4) Coronary heart disease, coronary arterial disease 5) Serious arrhythmia 6) Diabetes 7) Any other disease which can be aggravated by running 8) Allergic reaction to bee stings Runners with disabilities must seek the consent of the race director first before applying to join the event.
