2. E-Commerce has been a steadily growing sector in Malaysia for nearly two decades, with multiple plans from telecommunications companies offering mobile access to the Internet with almost nationwide coverage. As such, the average Malaysian is more often than not able to participate in E-Commerce whether as a buyer, seller, or both.
However, as it remains a growing industry, there are of course problems that need to be addressed in the growth of E-Commerce as an up-and-coming industry in Malaysia. Among the issues faced by the E-Commerce sector include problems in logistics and delivery, addressing suitable payment methods, the operating of platforms of purchase and sale, known as e-marketplaces, as well as the confidence of the consumer.
3. This E-Commerce Hackathon aims to explore the issues faced by the E-Commerce ecosystem, and gauge the extent of the impact from the issues.
At the same time, this conference also aims to explore the best practices employed by E-Commerce leaders from other countries, to gauge what may be adapted for implementation in the local E-Commerce ecosystem. The hackathon will will also aim to determine an action plan to raise consumer confidence, as well as to establish a guide to best practices in the Malaysian E-Commerce sector.
