SIDANG ROH : Sepetang bersama Kassim Ahmad.

We are pleased to inform that Sdr Kassim Ahmad has gracefully accepted an invitation to recite and discuss ideation of “ Sidang Roh “ ( 1960 ) , a seminal poem that inspired Syed Ahmad Jamal ( 1970 ).

“ Sidang Roh “ , the painting by SAJ was first shown as part of a group exhibition , “ MANIFESTASI DUA SENI “ held at Dewan Bahasa Pustaka ( DBP ) in 1970.

While founded on visual artists interpreting poetry , the exhibition was in some ways demonstrate their responses to the events of May 13th 1969 ; Piyadasa’s “ Coffin “ referencing Usman Awang’s “ Kambing Hitam “ was one example.
