Synopsis:
Shakespeare Goes Bollywood weaves stories of love, betrayal, defeat and revenge, into a seamless tale of Shakespearean proportion, but with a Bollywood flavour.
The play begins with the thirteen year old SAVITRI, meeting CHACHAJI, a wandering storyteller who trades stories for rupees. Through Chachaji’s narration, Savitri is transported to the holy city of Varanasi during the last days of the Delhi Sultanate to witness a tale of interreligious love, and all the complications that follow.
From the ill-fated love affair between RAGHUMAN, son of a goat herder and JYOTHI, daughter of a money lender, to the manipulation of KAPULASUNDARAJA, by his facially unappealing greedy daughters, GUNGUNA and RAJEE; to the revenge-driven saga of an orphaned son, BILLU, Shakespeare Goes Bollywood brings back the amazing flavour of Hindustani magic through stories, music and dance.

7 packets of well-loved Bollywood numbers
3 bags of brightly coloured bangles
