Renowned Russian musician Vladimir Ashkenazy returns to conduct the MPO in an all-Russian programme of music by three of his country’s greatest composers. The rousing Russian Easter Overture by Rimsky-Korsakov opens the programme, followed by Tchaikovsky’s popular Rococo Variations, featuring cellist Li-Wei Qin. Shostakovich’s epic Eight Symphony ends the concert.
