Almost 12 million Malaysians reside in poor and low-income Bottom 40% (B40) households. They face a myriad of problems and challenges on a daily basis. Many are trapped in the inter-generational cycle of poverty and inequality.
Inclusive growth with equity is what they have been promised.
The Eleventh Malaysia Plan (2016-2020) spells out policies and programmes to achieve the goal of “Elevating B40 Households towards a Middle-Class Society.”
Can this policy goal be achieved? Do the programmes address the real issues of the B40 households?
The aim of this Mimbar Gerakbudaya session is to share information on the issues and challenges, and to explore some potential long term solutions.
