Bach Cantatas
As an avid composer, Bach’s works continue to be most impactful for classical instrumentalists. As a concertmaster at Weimar Court (1714-16) and Candor at Liepzig’s St Thomas Church (1723-29), his inclusion of choral arrangements expanded his virtuosity, gloriously reflected in his dramatic and deeply spiritual Easter masterpieces, St John & St Mathew Passions and the more sublimed 200+ Cantatas. JPO is delighted to co-present two of these multi-movement Cantatas, BWV 72 & 144 with East Malaysia Bach Cantatas Singers and Festival Orchestra. In keeping with our orchestra’s Outreach and Educational initiatives, there will also be a lecture on the two Cantatas. The lecture will be in English, with translation in Chinese.
