Lollapalooza Singers: A Journey in Choral Excellence

Lollapalooza Singers: A Journey in Choral Excellence Founded informally in 2011, the Lollapalooza Singers began as a Christmas caroling group, performing annually at Genting Highlands. Under the leadership of Koh Tian Yi, who has directed the ensemble since its inception, the choir evolved into a formal group in 2013. That same year, they held their debut concert, titled Lollapalooza!, at the Damansara Performing Arts Center (DPAC). In 2014, the Lollapalooza Singers were invited to Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) to record compositions by ASWARA students. Later that year, the choir participated in the 2nd Voices of Asia International Choir Festival, winning the Chamber Choir Category and earning a prestigious Gold Award. Following a brief hiatus in 2016, while the musical director pursued a master’s degree in the UK, the choir reassembled in 2019 and has since remained actively engaged in concerts and collaborative projects. Having performed significant works like Vivaldi’s Gloria, Schubert’s Mass in G, and Fauré’s Requiem, the choir is now preparing to tackle some of the world’s most revered choral masterpieces, including compositions by Monteverdi, Palestrina, and Bach. The Lollapalooza Singers continue to establish their reputation in Malaysia and beyond, showcasing their passion for choral excellence and musical artistry.
